Savage Investigations has operated as a licensed Private Investigations Company since 2017 in California, PI-188076.  In 2023, Savage Investigations became licensed in Tennessee, license 2395.  Savage Investigations is licensed to conduct Private Investigations in both California and Tennessee.  John Savage started Savage Investigations in 2017 focusing on background investigations, internal and HR investigations, aircraft and auto accident investigations, and criminal case reviews.  These focused areas are a natural continuation and building on the expertise gained in over 30 years of law enforcement in specialized assignments utilizing these skills.

 

John Savage is the Principal and Qualified Manager of Savage Investigations.  He has over 30 years of full-time law enforcement experience in State, County, and City agencies, with management level (Sheriff’s Lieutenant - 250 sworn) assignments in Field Operations, Administration, and Corrections, as well as concurrent first line supervisor (Police Sergeant) in a part-time position.  This is a unique blend of skills, having practiced simultaneously in two roles (full-time Lieutenant Placer County Sheriff's Office and part-time Police Sergeant at a state agency) for maintaining perspectives as a manager and a first responder. He remains current in patrol, investigations, administration, and corrections as a part-time retired annuitant Police Sergeant with the state agency.


John maintains the following California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certificates: Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Supervisory, and Management.  He has held positions in the following specialized areas of law enforcement:

 

Lieutenant:

Field Operations Patrol Watch Commander, Air Support Unit Commander, Canine Unit Manager, Traffic Unit and Major Collision Investigations Team Manager, Investigations Manger, Internal Affairs Investigations, Coroners Investigations, Civilian Employee Manager, and Corrections Administration.

 

Sergeant:

Field Operations Patrol Shift Supervisor, Canine Handler and Unit Supervisor, Traffic Unit and Major Collision Investigations Team Supervisor, Motorcycle Patrol, Internal Affairs Investigations, Bicycle Patrol, Coroners Investigations, and Corrections Shift Supervisor.

 

Deputy Sheriff / Police Officer:

Patrol Field Training Officer (FTO), Traffic Unit and Major Collision Investigations, Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and DUI Enforcement, Coroners Investigations, and Corrections.
